NOTICES OF PUBLIC HEARINGS:

A. Proposed 2019-2020 Biennial Budget

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of DuPont Mayor’s proposed 2019-2020 budget will be filed with the City Clerk after October 9, 2018 and will be furnished to any taxpayer who contacts the City Clerk at (253) 964-8121.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the DuPont City Council will hold two Public Hearings scheduled at a Council Special Meeting on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at approximately 6:00 p.m. and at the Regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at approximately 7:00 pm, at DuPont City Hall, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327 to accept testimony regarding the proposed 2019-2020 biennial budget. All members of the public may provide testimony during the public hearing for or against any part of the biennial budget, or they may submit written comments prior to the public hearing to the City Clerk’s Office, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327 or by email to .

C. Revenue Sources & Tax Levies

The DuPont City Council will conduct a Public Hearing during its Special Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at approximately 6:00 pm, at DuPont City Hall, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327, for the purpose of receiving written or oral comments on the proposed 2019 revenue sources including Regular and EMS property tax levies. All taxpayers may submit written comments prior to the public hearing to the City Clerk’s Office, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327, or by email to e-mail.

D. Special Meeting

Immediately following the regularly scheduled DuPont City Council workshop of Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 6:00 pm, the City Council has scheduled a special meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327, to hold three separate public hearings and discussion regarding the 2019-2020 proposed budget, 2019 property tax levy and the 2019 emergency medical services (EMS) levy; and to discuss and/or possible approval of the proposed Ordinances for the property tax levy and EMS levy.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

VACANCY
The City is seeking interested residents for appointment to the City’s volunteer Civil Service Commission to fill a vacancy for Position 3 for an unexpired term through June 30, 2019. The purpose of the Civil Service Commission is to implement, administer, and direct a civil service system that is consistent with state laws for sworn personnel of the DuPont Police Department and uniformed personnel of the DuPont Fire Department. The commission provides sworn police and uniformed fire employees with a quasi-judicial process for hearings on appeals concerning disciplinary actions, examination and testing, and other related issues. 

Pursuant to RCW 41.12.030 and RCW 41.08.030, each member must be a resident of the City of DuPont for at least three (3) years immediately preceding City Council appointment and a registered voter in Pierce County. At the time of any appointment, not more than two commissioners shall be adherents of the same political party. The term of office is six (6) years.


LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE (LTAC)

VACANCY


The City is seeking interested individuals for appointment to the City's Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC). The LTAC was established for the purpose of recommending to the City Council on how to use the City lodging tax revenue for tourism promotion or tourism facility purposes.  By state law, at least two members are representatives of businesses required to collect the tax, two members are persons involved in activities authorized to be funded by the tax, and one member is an elected official of the City.  Please submit a completed application, letter of interest and a copy of your resume to City Hall, Attn: Karri Muir, City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327.  OPEN UNTIL FILLED

PARKS & RECREATION AGENCY

The City is seeking interested residents for appointments to the City's volunteer Parks & Recreation Agency. Eligible applicants must be residents of the City of DuPont for a minimum of one year. Please submit a completed application form and a letter of interest that includes your relevant professional experience, your reasons for desiring to be appointed to this position, and your thoughts on the most significant parks and recreational issues facing the City in both the short and long term, to City Hall, Attn: City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327. BOARD VACANCY

The City is seeking interested residents for appointment to the City's volunteer Tourism Board. The Tourism Board was established in 2009 for the purpose of marketing and promoting DuPont as a destination for recreation, historical discovery, and business opportunity. Applicants need not be residents of the City. YOUTH COUNCIL VACANCY  
The City is seeking interested high school students in the DuPont community for appointment to the volunteer Youth Council. The Youth Council was created to involve youth in local government, increase volunteerism in civic affairs, increase communication with youth in the community, and involve youth in planning community activities.
