April 18 - April 22

• Intermittent shifts throughout the week for storm and roadway excavation from Bell Hill to Wharf on the west side of the road.

Thursday, 4/14:

• Removing striping from Center to Pendleton - shift traffic to east per approved traffic plan.

• Narrowing traffic south of guardrail on Wharf for prepping wall’s 2 & 3 installation.

April 08 - April 11:

Intermittent shifts throughout the week for storm, roadway excavation, and wall 1 excavation from Bell Hill to Center on the west side of the road.

April 4 - April 8:

Expect intermittent traffic shifts throughout the week in these locations:

• Between Pendleton Avenue and Bell Hill Street for grubbing removal and permanent fence grading on the east side of the road.

• Between Bell Hill Street and Center Drive for grubbing and roadway excavation on the west side of the road.

March 28 – April 1:

Expect intermittent traffic shifts throughout the week in these locations:

Between Center Drive and Wharf Road when the contractor is removing stumps on the east side of the road (JBLM side).

Between Pendleton Avenue and Davis Place when the contractor grading for fence placement on the east side of the road (JBLM side).

Tuesday March 22, 2022 Update

Surveying is resuming this week, which should cause no impacts to traffic.  Clearing and grubbing will begin on Wednesday, March 23, and go through the end of next week.  The only anticipated traffic shift during this time will be from Bell Hill to Davis Place on the west side of the road for guardrail removal.

Monday January 3, 2022 Update

Active Construction, Inc., Frank DeTray, PO Box 430 Puyallup, WA 98371-0162, is seeking coverage under the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Construction Stormwater NPDES and State Waste Discharge General Permit. The proposed project, DuPont Steilacoom Road Widening, is located at DuPont Steilacoom Road from Pendleton to Wharf Road in Dupont in Pierce County.

This project involves 4.95 acres of soil disturbance for Highway or Road construction activities. The receiving waterbodies are Wetland #1C, Sequalitchew Creek, JBLM Canal. Any persons desiring to present their views to the Washington State Department of Ecology regarding this Application, or interested in Ecology’s action on this Application, may notify Ecology in writing no later than 30 days (February 15, 2022) of the last date of publication of this notice.

Ecology reviews public comments and considers whether discharges from this project would cause a measurable change in receiving water quality, and, if so, whether the project is necessary and in the overriding public interest according to Tier II anti-degradation requirements under WAC 173-201A-320. Monday December 20, 2021 Update

Current working hours are from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. We will notify you when/if those hours change throughout the project. 

No Construction work will be done on Friday December 24, 2021. The contractor will pick up on Monday January 3rd, 2022.

Monday, December 13 through Friday, December 31: 

Contractor will continue to remove trees between Center Drive and Wharf Road on both the west and east sides of the road. One lane may be closed from time to time; however, two-way traffic will be maintained. 

Contractor will install silt fence along the west side of the road.  This should have no impact on traffic.

Contractor also will be working along the entire project site on both the west and east sides of the road in preparation for beginning roadway excavation on December 20.  One lane may be closed from time to time; however, two-way traffic will be maintained. 

The week of December 27-31 no contract work will be done and will continue Monday January 3, 2022.
