Snow & Ice Removal

Snow and ice removal is a source of pride for the Public Works Department.

Weather is tracked for freezing temperatures and storms to prepare both equipment and staff for the event. Ahead of freezing temperatures, anti-ice brine is placed on City streets to help keep the streets from icing.

There needs to be at least 1 inch of snow to plow the streets. High use roads like Center Dr, Wilmington Dr, McNeil St, and Palisade Blvd. will be snow plowed first. Hills and trouble spots are also a part of the primary route such as Lapsely Dr, Hoffman Hill Blvd, Ridge View Dr, and Bell Hill.

After the main roads and trouble spots are finished then work begins on neighborhood roads. Please be patient as they conduct snow removal work.

Please limit street parking as much as possible during snow events. That will help Public Works snow plow more effectively and efficiently.

What can the community do to help...

  • Keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice
  • Look out for pedestrians
  • Watch stopping distances
  • Check in on neighbors
  • Limit street parking
