Mayor's Memorial Day Message

May 22, 2020

"Hello, Neighbors

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and reflection. While we may not be together this Memorial Day, we can and we must recognize the men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Today and every day, we honor them. These are the nation’s heroes, champions of freedom. They are the embodiment of selflessness and patriotism. They are the reason we enjoy our liberties.

With freedom comes sacrifice. Their families deal with unimaginable grief. As a grateful nation, we thank them. Know that you are always in our hearts and we remain inspired by your strength and remarkable courage.

To pay tribute to those laid to rest beneath our flag and the families who bear that loss, we must simply remember. Remember them when we go to grocery store, enjoy our child’s soccer game, or take a walk. Remember them always. We can each play a part in honoring them.  We have a wreath placed at Ross Plaza this Memorial Day weekend.  I encourage everyone to stop by on your own and pay your respects.

In 2021, we will once again gather at Ross Plaza to do exactly that. We will remember and we will never forget.

God bless our heroes…..and God bless the USA."
