Fire Chief Message

Screenshot 2023-09-26 160940I am honored and excited about the great opportunity to be the Fire Chief of the City of DuPont Fire Department. I take great pride in this responsibility, and I am committed to serving and protecting our community to the best of my abilities.

First and foremost, I want to express my deep gratitude to the dedicated men and women of the DuPont Fire Department. Their unwavering commitment to public safety, professionalism, and tireless dedication have made our department one of the finest in the region. I am humbled to lead such an exceptional group of Firefighters/EMT’s who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

As Fire Chief, my primary focus will be on maintaining and improving the high standards of service that you, the residents of DuPont, rightly expect and deserve. We will continue to respond to fire and EMS emergencies promptly, provide essential fire protection and prevention services, provide medicine involving the evaluation and management of patients with acute traumatic and medical conditions in an environment outside the hospital and offer educational programs to enhance public safety awareness.

A few of my goals are to strengthen our community engagement efforts, bolster our Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance coverage and increase staffing levels to provide safety for the community and our firefighters. The DuPont Fire Department is here to serve you, and I want to ensure that our services are as accessible and beneficial to the community as possible. We will actively seek your input, collaborate with local organizations, and work to develop programs that address the unique needs of our city.

In the face of challenges, including natural disasters and other emergencies, you can trust that the DuPont Fire Department will be prepared and ready to respond swiftly and effectively. With assistance from our public safety partner DuPont Police Department and mutual aid partners from Joint Base Lewis McChord and fire agencies from across Pierce and Thurston counties, Washington State and Nationally we will succeed in mitigating any emergency we face together. We are dedicated to your safety and well-being, and we will continue to train and equip our firefighters to handle any situation that may arise.

I encourage you to stay connected with us through our city website, International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 3829 Facebook social media channel, and community events. We value your feedback and look forward to hearing from you. Together, we can make our community an even safer and more resilient place to live.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the City of DuPont Fire Department. I am eager to work alongside you, and I am confident that together, we can build a safer and stronger DuPont.

If you ever have questions, concerns, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me or our department. Your input is invaluable to us.

Sincerely,

Mickey L Gillie
