MAKING PUBLIC COMMENT DURING MEETINGS:
Regarding the Open Public Meetings Act and taken from the Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC) of Washington's website, "Effective June 9, 2022, public comment at regular meetings of a governing body of a public agency where final action is taken is now a requirement. Note that a governing body includes not just the city or county council or board of commissioners, but also planning commissions, civil service commissions, and other policy or rule-making bodies, and committees that act on behalf of the governing body, conduct hearings, or take testimony or public comment."

PLANNING COMMISSION:
Eligible applicants for Planning Commissioner must be residents of the City of DuPont. Residents interested in applying to the Planning Commission must submit a completed application, a letter of interest, and a resume to City Hall, Attn: Karri Muir, City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA. CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION:
Pursuant to RCW 41.12.030 and RCW 41.08.030, each Civil Service Commission Commissioner must be a resident of the City of DuPont for at least three (3) years immediately preceding City Council appointment and be a registered voter in Pierce County. At the time of any appointment, not more than two commissioners shall be adherents of the same political party. The term of office is six (6) years.
The purpose of the Civil Service Commission is to implement, administer, and direct a civil service system that is consistent with state laws for sworn personnel of the DuPont Police Department and uniformed personnel of the DuPont Fire Department. The commission provides sworn police and uniformed fire employees with a quasi-judicial process for hearings on appeals concerning disciplinary actions, examination and testing, and other related issues. LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE (LTAC):
The City’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) was established for the purpose of making recommendations to the City Council regarding the City lodging tax revenue for tourism promotion and tourism facility purposes. By state law, at least two (2) members are representatives of businesses required to collect the tax, two (2) members are persons involved in activities authorized to be funded by the tax, and one (1) member is an elected official of the City. Individuals interested in applying to be an LTAC member must submit a completed application, a letter of interest, and a resume to City Hall, Attn: Karri Muir, City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327.
PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION:
The City is seeking interested residents for appointments to the City’s Park & Recreation Commission. Eligible applicants must be residents of the City of DuPont for a minimum of one (1) year. More information about the Park & Recreation Commission can be found here.
Residents interested in applying must submit a completed application and a letter of interest that includes relevant professional experience, reasons for desiring to be appointed to this position, and thoughts on the most significant parks and recreational issues facing the City in both the short and long term to City Hall, Attn: Karri Muir, City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327.
